How a QR code works

A QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a two-dimensional barcode created in 1994 by Japanese company Denso Wave. It stores information in a pattern of square modules that any phone camera can read, decoding the content — a URL, text, contact data (vCard), or Wi-Fi info — without typing anything.

The three squares at the corners act as position markers, letting the reader identify orientation and size even if the photo is taken at an angle. The code also has built-in error correction, meaning it stays readable even with a small part damaged or covered.

Frequently asked questions

Does the generated QR code expire or have a usage limit?

No. The QR code is generated locally in your browser and the content is embedded directly in the image — it does not depend on any external service or intermediate link, so it never expires or has a scan limit.

Why isn't my QR code being read by the camera?

Check that there is enough contrast between the code and background, that the image is not blurry or too small, and that the encoded content does not exceed the recommended character limit for the chosen error correction level.
